AUNT GRACIE

They say it takes a village to raise a child...my cousins and I are very lucky to have our own village of very special women within our family, who have made us the women and mothers we are today. My aunt Gracie is one of those special, wonderful souls that I am so grateful to have known and loved and who is very much a part of me.  As her ashes are laid to rest today ,my heart breaks.  I will never be the same. I have so many wonderful memories and even a few secrets that I will treasure forever. I remember pouring my heart out  telling her how scared I was to become a mother and her reply was simply " Oh,come on Ag!! Don't be friggin silly! Just love him!  Just a few simple words that put me at ease. She was great for always making me feel at ease. I will miss that.

I have a plaque in my home that Aunt Gracie read out loud everytime she came over and one day I asked her,"why do you like the words so much?" and she said "everyone has to die,but only after we are finished living, so live every moment." Here's to you Aunt Gracie.........Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up,totally worn out and proclaiming "Wow what a ride!!"

All my Love,

Aggie aka Hol
